The Swiss White Shepherd is a dog that has everything to fall in love with instantly! One look is often enough to become aware of their friendly personality, handsome appearance and tidy liveliness. They like to express having fun, a character trait with which they invite their owners to be active with them as well. Because in addition to being sweet, fun and sociable, they naturally remain smart Sheepdogs who love a challenge both physically and mentally.
Did you know that not all White Swiss Shepherds you meet on the street have an official pedigree? We call purebred dogs without a pedigree 'look-alikes'. Find out more about the difference between a pedigree dog and a 'look-alike' look at the site of the board of directors. https://www.oudenvanhonden.nl/hondenrassen/alle-rassen/fci-groep-1/zwitserse-witte-herdershond/
The White Swiss Shepherd is a powerful, well-muscled, medium-sized dog with upright ears, of rectangular size. It has a medium bone structure and elegant, harmoniously flowing lines. The height at the withers can vary from 58 to 66 cm in males and from 53 to 61 cm in bitches. The average weight of a male is approximately 30 - 40 kilos and of a bitch 25 - 35 kilos. The breed has two coat variants, namely long-stick hair and stick hair. Some are of the opinion that the long stick hair has a very high cuddly factor, while others really appreciate the powerful appearance of the stick hair variant.
Sometimes a Swiss White Shepherd can take a look at the cat from the tree. However, it will usually thaw quickly. For some people this trait is a lesser trait, others see it as an advantage. It also happens that their intelligence, in combination with the softer character, leads to certain behaviors that can be somewhat complex for the owner. That is why a Swiss White Shepherd is definitely looking for a owner who does not just start a dog and whose nature it is to give a friendly, constructive and rewarding upbringing with consistent rules. It is also a dog with a considerable 'will to please' and that makes it very suitable for various branches of dog sports such as obedience, agility, flyball, tracking and all kinds of variations thereof. Of course you have to take into account the build of the individual dog. But above all, the Swiss White Shepherd is a dog who likes to have his basket in the house of his family, has a talent for getting along with children, loves to cuddle and walk, often poke for a game, walk next to the bicycle or likes to go swimming.
The coat of the Swiss White Shepherd requires little extra care. The coat is supposedly 'self-cleaning'. Mud and sand are easy to blow out with a water blower, making frequent washing unnecessary. Twice a year the variety has a moulting period in which it is recommended to use the wax blowing method. Every extra brush and / or combing will help to keep the dog shedding throughout the year. Since hairs will be irrevocably pulled out and the coat will say: "Oh, I am losing hair" and will create new hair and the dog will end up in a vicious circle. This can of course also take place in a grooming salon.
There are of course the exceptions. A puppy should be taught that it is regularly touched. And in the first year of life, tangles can develop, especially behind the ears. This is because they don't have their original coat yet. There is only one at the age of one and a half. And there are the so-called castrate coats that have to be treated 4 times a year, otherwise it is impossible to keep up and in these coats unfortunately tangles do occur.
The breed clubs; Swiss White Shepherd Association Netherlands, Breed Club for the Swiss White Shepherd and Dutch Association Berger Blanc Suisse are concerned with the health of the Swiss White Sheepdog. This is part of the club breeding regulations of every breed club. In it, they make the following examinations mandatory for the parent animals: Hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, DNA testing for multi-drug resistance and degenerative myelopathy. We test our dogs for all DNA diseases from breed group I.

with that, a new start has already been made for a new generation. Lancar was sold but returned and it probably should have been.
Lancar is currently our best babysitter ever. Whatever comes in, Lancar takes pity on it. An older dog, a puppy or a cat or kittens, you can leave it to Lancar.
